this displays the chart tools, adding the design, layout, and format tabs. click a chart that displays a secondary vertical axis. to add a secondary vertical axis, see add a secondary vertical axis. I am running Microsoft Excel for Mac, Version 16.21.1 (190123), in Office 365. The 'Help' page tells how you can add a secondary axis in Word for Mac, but not Excel That seems ridiculous.
#Secondary axis excel for mac series
How can I achieve this I am plotting multiple series if that is relevant. I have used secondary axes before in Excel, and I think it was in Office 2011 for Mac, but I can't be sure. Essentially I just need to add a secondary axis value/label to the x-axis. inverse temperature (x-axis), and I want to include non-inverse temperature as a secondary x-axis. To complete this procedure, you must have a chart that displays a secondary vertical axis. I am using an XY scatter plot to chart conductivity (y-axis) vs. that is, the primary axis only has 1 set of data (dollars) so it plots a single. what is happening is that excel plots each axis individually, and does not take into account the other axis. note: to create the secondary axis, click on one of the data series (ie, a column), then format and choose secondary axis. the second series (orange one), you have converted to secondary axis. below, you have drawn a normal column chart in first chart. You want to draw a column chart with two data series and one you want to make a primary and one you want to make secondary. you simply right click the secondary bar and select "change the chart type", and select scatter with or without the connecting line. the overlap of this symbol with the bars of the primary y, is the desired result. I find it easier to change the secondary y data's chart type to a scatter plot.

first, format the gridlines to use a lighter shade of gray, and the primary horizontal axis to use a darker shade of gray (but not too dark, no need to use harsh black lines). Excel only gave us the secondary vertical axis, but we’ll add the secondary horizontal axis, and position that between the panels (at y=0 on the secondary vertical axis).
